Where did the name Puro Sabor come from?
The car was built by the late David Leal Sr. among countless others of the Taste of Latin Car Club in Odessa, TX. Puro Sabor is written all over the car, it would be impossible to change the name.***
What inspired you to choose the 1963 Chevrolet Impala as your canvas? Tell us about its unique journey?
I was in a bike club before and I would show lowrider bikes and have always loved lowriders, hanging them on my wall when I was 13-14. I just wanted something to cruise and to go to shows. I was looking for a lowrider and Puro Sabor popped up, I ended up going and looking at it and I fell in love with it. She was worth the drive after looking at 'er from the pictures. When I went to go see, I was so impressed, the paint was just awesome. It ended up me and my buddy went half on a package deal with a truck and the ‘63 Impala.

Could you describe some of the work & unique features that make 'Puro Sabor' stand out in the lowrider community?
The engraving on the bumper and windshield was done by Krazy Kutting when they first started. Then, the ragtop convertible makes it pretty classic plus the custom dashboard. The paint changes colors from red to orange in the light.
Originally It didn't have gold, it was all chrome before. I wanted to add gold plating and I ended up buying a kit and I started doing the gold myself. I plan on doing some more gold to change it up a little. That's pretty much it and I did a little engine dressing and I added some rims. They are center gold players that fit the classic lowrider style.

What are some of your favorite memories at a Heatwave show or within the community?
Seeing people of all ages, and everybody enjoying the car. It has such a mixture of influence built into it. I used to show my bike there and I took the car last year and again this year. I have only been to two shows with Puro Sabor and it was Heatwave.

Can you share any memorable moments or experiences you've had with 'Puro Sabor'?
I remember when they delivered it and it didn't want to go home! I thought I could drive it home. Now I only drive her around the block to local meets and around shows.

What advice would you give to aspiring lowrider enthusiasts or those looking to embark on their own custom car journey?
Keep going and keep dreaming about what you want to do and you can have it. Work hard for what you want. I want people to continue building lowriders. That's why I used to build show bikes, now you see more and more people building bikes. I hope people see Puro Sabor and want to create their own lowrider.

Are there any future plans in store for 'Puro Sabor' ?
I don't want to change anything about it, it's just a beautiful car. I want to keep it the way it is and do a little more work on it like gold plating. I plan on getting a nice display with carpet and mirrors for more car shows.
